Honda MTL = 10w30 motor oil?

From another forum, there was a question about manual tranny fluid changes on Hondas.

Him: Just out of curiosity, has anyone mentioned what honda uses for MTF in these cars? I know, but I think it is funny to see the look on peoples faces when you tell them.....

Me: Please enlighten us.

Him: It is plain ol' 10W30 Motor oil. Kinda cool really, a cheap refill!


Is this accurate? The owner's manual specifically says not to use 10w30 motor oil or else gears might stick.

The older Honda's did say in the owners manual that 10W-30 was acceptable. At some point the wording changed, and now you are only supposed to use that for short term use. I belive the additive package in today's MTL is different than what was used in the past.
