Doubtful unless you put straight 70 in it.I don't want to debate thick/thin. I'm just wondering if oil viscosity would have any effect on the functioning of i-VTEC in the current V6 engines.
I’m probably going to throw in 5w-30 in ours on it’s next oil change coming up soon.I was working at a transportation operation that had a newer Honda Odyssey minivan in the fleet with the v6 and they told us to change the oil with what the other hd vehicles use and it was 15w40… it still ran fine after this oil change and vtec still was very operational lol. Even years later I see that van around so it did not explode or ruin the engine by not running 5w20 in it.

Ahh, the best oilAw yee, changed the oil last week....5qts of 5w30 VEP and .4qts of Kendall 0w20 went in.
exactly what i've been doing the last 4 years. judging by my UOA's, that engine loves it.Ran 0W40 in my K20 I-VTEC. Made no difference to VTEC operation.
not at all. the K20Z3 in mine is specced in the US for 5W-30 but internationally for up to a 5W-40. a 0W-40 approximately splits the difference. The 0W-40 doesn’t make the engine feel sluggish at all?
