MY Honda snowblower is gushing gas out of the valve cover breather tube once it cranks up. A possible cause could be that the carborator valve has debri in it and it is allowing gas to run through. Anyone have experience with this. What do I need to do to fix?

Something in the carb is not right. At the very least you'll have to take off the bowl and clean it out with carb cleaner.

Yep. I've seen entire fuel tanks empty right out through the carb throat, or fill the crankcase right up and out the breather like the OP is probably experiencing w/ his Honda. A dangerous and potentially catastrophic situation. This is why larger engines have solenoid shut-off valves on carb bowls. I'd disassemble, clean or replace the carb. Joel

That, and make it a short OCI. There must be a lot of garbage in the engine if that happened.

Do this 1st before removing the carburetor.

Not sure I'd use a rubber mallet. I'd give it a couple sharp whacks with the handle of a medium size screw driver. A mallet is to big and too heavy. It might damage the carb.

LOL!! Good point. Reminds me of a situation we had at work. A few of us were helping our Instrumentation Techs do some functional test PMs on various equipment. One was to test the functionality of an "earthquake switch" on a recip compressor that compresses argon gas. All it needed was a decent tap with a screw driver handle, etc. The Tech 'helping' whacked it with a brass mallet and sheared the whole switch assy off the machine. The switch worked laugh . Joel

Yeah.. With a rubber mallet, I have visions of the carb dangling from it's linkage. Some people have difficulty calibrating the difference between a tap vs. a whack. The objective is to slightly jar the float to act in a positive way on the float needle.
