I am thinking about using GC in the Fit. After reading all the old post for and against using the 5-20wt I am swayed toward the 30wt. The main reason is that the EPA requires 5-20 for EPA testing and mandates that the Manufactures persuade the consumer to continue using 5-20.

I would not use GC in a Fit.

Just follow the manual and use a good 5w-20 or 0W-20 and you'll be fine.

If the car calls for a 20wt oil, I'd use it with no worries. EXCELLENT oil with EXCELLENT results. Better overall than GC IMO.

LOL! I am the owner of a 07 fit and I'm not swayed by the benefits of using GC in mine.

After much researching and my personal experience (I was a mech before), my take are as follows:

Conventional:
-chevron 5W20
-Ford 5W20

syn:
-pp 5W20
-Castrol syntec 5W20
-Mobil 1 5W20
-Supertech 5W20
-[censored] Tire's house brand mortalmaster 5W20 (gold bottle)

Q.

currently using mortalmaster 5W200 full syn with HAMP oil filter in my fit, clocked 6,900kms to date since new.

Motorcraft or Chevron Supreme are both great choices. Maybe I will just use the Honda oil.

In the UK garages tend to use 10w/40 in the Fit (Jazz here). I'd prefer the synth 0w/30 but it's the car of SWMBO, so its not my call. Does 48 Imp. mpg but could do better.....

I agree with Castrol UK:

Just a update: I averaged 32 MPG 90%city driving with GC! Looks like my fuel economy was not affected/effected (I can not remember the grammer rule) using GC. I will not sweat going the full drain interval using GC.
