Easy to remove. It is bolted down with a bracket.....You can see it in the picture.

thanks, maybe will get my hand dirty this weekending help. do you know if this filter is before or after of the cooler? I am thinking of using filter as a cooler drain and refill point (add an extension hose, star engine and drain the ATF to a bucket). the Civic had 2 drain already so i think the magnet on the ATF plug inspection can be skip this time.

I wouldn't call it difficult, but it depends on experience/skill level.
Removing and replacing the air cleaner assembly was the most time consuming part. Replacing the filter is quite easy. It is held in a bracket, one 10mm bolt holds it together.

I wouldn't call it difficult, but it depends on experience/skill level.
Removing and replacing the air cleaner assembly was the most time consuming part. Replacing the filter is quite easy. It is held in a bracket, one 10mm bolt holds it together.

thanks, we "simulated" the work on weekend and I shall be able to tackle it. my TSX also has same filter, and will change at around the same time! there is a white dot on the tip of the filter, and the hose. I had seen this white dot on the ATF hoses on other Honda and Acura; my guess is these white dot indicate exit point of the fluid (~flow of the fluid). I will get a 3/8" coupler and use it for ATF flush, so i don't need to deal with the drain bolt anymore.

Honestly, a bad idea to flush the Honda ATF. Better to do multiple drain and fills.

even using cooler line method? I had only done cooler line flush on MDX so far, and TSX had been drain and fills. i would love to do cooler line on TSX to avoid getting under the car...

You guys made it sound like it is easy to replace the ATF filter but it was quite a difficult task for me. Took me a couple hours to replace it with an OEM filter and do a drain and fill on my 2007 Civic LX. Most difficult part was to remove the lower hose clamp of the filter. Had to reach it from underneath the car.

It turned out pretty well though. Old filter after 70k miles was pretty clogged, tried to blow air though it with my mouth and it was very restrictive compared to the brand new one.

Removing the air box wasn't a walk in the park either, but with patience it wasn't that bad.

BTW I refilled with only 2.75qt and it was just at the correct level of course after driving the car and letting it cool down.
