It's not an Acura versus Honda issue. A little research shows that Honda Motor Co. changed the spec for nearly all Honda/Acura vehicles to Type 2 with the 2001 model year...Civic to NSX. Passports, understandably, being the exception I found. So, technically, the Type 2 fluid has been used since at least 2000 for the 2001 model year vehicles actually shipped in 2000. I'm not sure where you found that 2005 "fact", but it is in error.

I wouldn't trust that number.

Dex-cool was supposed to be good for 5 years, yet most of the time it is putrid by the 4th year.

Well this is not GM stuff.

It has been 7 yrs/70K miles and my coolant is good(according to the test strip and my eyeball test).

Dexcool can look good after 7 years or more too. Dexcool in ideal situations is probably just as long life as this Honda type 2. 10 years I think is too long. some manufactures tell you the ATF last 100K miles or forever too, but that doesn't mean you should take the claim too seriously.

You'll probably need a coolant analysis to see if the coolant really is still good. Freeze protection is only one aspect of coolant.

OE GREEN from Honda will last a LONG time. More then likely will last to the point of doing T belt and water pump.

Type II Blue is awesome and believed to be a form of or exactly that of G-48 which is of course the famous BMW approved fluid.

G-48 does have one issue in that it HAS never been stated to be a lifetime fluid. All literature states it is a 5 year coolant. Makes sense what is being said by the Honda dealer in this regard.
