The AMSOIL XL-7500 5W20 is group III so it's not synthetic in the true sense of the word.

benjamming, Can't argue about the definition, but its certainly a step above dino. In any case it will perform to 7000mile oci or arguably longer. However, your point is well taken, you may strike it from the list if you so choose.

When I first got my 02 Accord and prior to finding this website, I was lured into the QS 250K warranty and use their version of the 5W-20 to keep in with the warranty specs. Then I started sending in UOA's. Oil would not go past 3K miles.

Are all 5W20 oils synthetic or semi-synthetic? The reason I ask is that Honda in Canada is recommending an 8000k oci, and if the Honda OEM filters are Frams, and the oil is just dino juice, Honda seems to have quite the confidence in their engines/warranty to have such a long oci.

In my US manual for a 2002 civic ex. 8000km is the Severe service catagory. The regular service is 16,000 km. I've been splitting the difference at about 11-12,000 km.
