Honda 250 "Recon" Oil Filter Screen??

Just picked up an '07 Honda 250 Recon with just over 5 hours time on it (shortly after the guy got it, he realized he actually wanted 4 wheel drive - I got it for a song - $2,400.00!!).
Anyway, reading the Owner's Manual, I found, in the Maintenance Schedule, a note that the Centrifugal Filter and Filter Screen should be "serviced by your Honda dealer". Well, he's about an hour away, so I'm wondering if anyone knows where said filter/screen is located.

Is it behind the drain plug, as it was in older Honda 4cycles?

My Clymer manual says service 200 hours. It also says the crankcase halves have to be split. I probably would not spit them just to clean the screen unless there are other warning signs. I have rode much longer than 200 hours without cleaning. However, my manual only covers through 2002. Happy riding.
