Looking at replacing some windows that are starting to dry rot. Looked at lowes for some pricing. I would have a pro put them in. I also get flyers from Anderson windows in the mail all the time. What brands are good. Are Anderson any good, or overpriced twist your are sales commissioned products? I know it usually depends on how they are installed. Thanks.

We went with Pella pocket windows from Lowes in 2013. Replaced contractor grade windows. Used two separate Lowes sales to get the whole house done. The Lowes contractor install team was excellent, and we specified them as our installers in our phase 2. Since it was winter, we felt an immediate difference in comfort.
Did get bids from Andersen Renewal franchise, and it came in quite a bit higher. My sister had owned two separate houses where Andersen was originally installed, and was very happy with them. Pella and Andersen are quality products.

Look into fiberglass. I'm having a custom home built at the moment and it just got Marvin windows installed.
Renewal by Anderson and Marvin would be my choices. Pella had issues resulting in a class action lawsuit.
Full frame replacements or inserts?
You'll get better results with full-frame but it'll be a lot more expensive.
Warranty and quality of the install matter as much if not more than the quality of the replacement window.
