Home water testing strips might not work so well

Interim update, using.the test strips that just arrived today. Tomorrow the bottle testing system will arrive.

Top strip is outside water, test reports water untreated as very hard. Bottom strip is hard to read, but strongly suggest water coming post water softener does have some hardness removed.

Earlier today I ordered new resin, 10p rated. I also ordered gravel. It was very hard to find a seller of 10p resin, and shipping will take at least a week. Home Depot and Lowes doesn't offer 10p resin, even online.

Earlier today Amazon delivered a test kit for water hardness.

The water last the softener tests soft. Water from the outside hose tests hard.

It looks like the highly sponsored test kit on Amazon is not a good tool to test for water hardness.

Additionally, I discovered our system is only a 32,000 grain system..The home was built six years ago by a retired couple, they may have gone with a low usage system. We are also just a couple, but had kids and grandkids at the house for two weeks, tripling the water usage.

Finally, I did order new 10p resin,.and gravel. I will exchange the resin in the next week. I determined the capacity of the system by measuring the resin holding tank.

I think that when you install the new resin it will work great...My resin lasted for about 10 years...
