"High Mileage" 'formulas: Truth or Marketing?

Hopefully the subject line says it all. Since my current vehicles somehow managed to last more than a couple years and achieve 100s of K of miles I happened to notice these logos on a few brands (M1? Castrol?). Are these mere words on a decal applied to a bottle or is there anything legitimate to the claim?
