it is nothing like the focus.
It absolutely is. It's based on the Focus platform just like the Escape and C-Max.

The C-Max is built on Ford's Global C platform, which underpins the Focus and C-Max (called the Focus C-Max elsewhere), Transit Connect, Escape, etc.

It also has 4 wheels. You going to claim that makes it like the focus? Go sit in a C-Max, it shares nothing with the focus other than probably mytouch/infotainment. It has more headroom, different seating heights, different shape, different driving dynamics, etc. It is nothing like a focus hatch/wagon.

It's not that far off from a Focus & that's not a bad thing. Reading up on the vehicle it appears it's more the 'MPV body-style' of the Focus, rather than traditional wagon, very much like the Camry / Venza IMO. Wheelbase is nearly identical (within 8mm) Different glass, panels and trim. According to wikipedia, it's often called the "Ford Focus C-Max". There is an actual Focus wagon in other markets.

Completely different! Remember the old Chevy suburbans that were based on the trucks? Those weren't related at all to the Chevrolet trucks! All they shared was 4 wheels with the same bolt pattern and the chevy logo, apparently. I also suppose that the Explorer isn't , at all, related to the Taurus! Even more funny, for not being related, the 2012 + Focus and C-Max sure seem to have an identical front suspension... the brakes also interchange with a Volvo. So according to Ford (the manufacturer), they are built on the same platform, Rock auto says a lot of parts interchange ... but they are completely different, unrelated cars that just share a bolt pattern and a ford logo. Have you told Ford that the C-Max, Focus, Transit Connect, Escape aren't actually related?

Who is talking about them being "related?" Two things can be not similar and still be related...or were you just trolling again?

I don't think anyone's trolling; I think different people just read the question differently. Some read the question as "is the C-Max structurally similar to the Focus" and some read the question as "is the C-Max anything like the Focus wagon". Before this discussion goes much further, we should probably cool it or this thread will get locked.

Uncalled for! Talking about trolling, it might be time for you to look in the mirror.

They are vry much related! Upon further googling, in Europe "compact MPV" is a vehicle segment. C-max is a Focus MPV, not wagon as I thought. The actual Focus wagon is the Focus wagon LOL Also, B-max is a Fiesta MPV (and competes directly with a car like the Fit, which is also a B-segment MPV). In fact, what is Ford waiting for to bring the B-max this side?; it'll put a spanking on the Fit sales considering there is not much competition in the North American MPV B-segment- Theres the Mercedes B200, Fit, Some Hyundai/Kia, and a Chevy model or two, and that's it for our selection of B-MPVs.

Deciding if this or a TDI Wagon will be the next future vehicle in our fleet. A plugin C-Max would nix by fuel usage for work completely. Almost nix my wife's. A TDI would also lessen her fuel usage for work and be the go to weekend trip car sans foul weather.
