I left my lawn tractor outside we got 1/2 inch of rain. I left the gas cap off which is 4 inches in diameter.
So I figure I got 3 to 4 ozs of water in there. Should I be concerned? The tank is 2.5 gallons. Should I drain it. I go through about 1 gallon a week.

Can you siphon the fuel out, clean the tank properly, then pour back the fuel, making sure to avoid pouring in the water?

You took in 6 cu inches of water. That's a lot. I'd take the tank off and drain it all into a can/tank. You can remove the water and reuse the fuel once you get it into manageable quart or pint quantities. One benefit of this is that you can use the rainwater to remove the ethanol from your fuel... if you're into that sort of thing.

I know people leave their Lawn Tractors outside, why was the Gas Cap left off? Did you add Gas and forget to put the Gas Cap back on?

Thanks for all your replies. I got the gas out. I'm not going to salvage the gas. Where can I take it? Can I dump in with used oil salvage?

Lookup online if your area has an Environmental Center of some sort that takes hazardous materials. Often are run by the county or city.

If not, some cities have a hazardous material dropoff day of some kind throughout the year.
