What can be causing my truck to jerk when I let my foot off the gas when my transmission is in Overdrive. Is it just me or is just the trucks way of transfering of power away from the wheels. Like one minute you have gas going to it and then let off to coast and it jerks there a minute going in to 3rd. Let me say it only happens when I am around 50mph get going 55 to 60 or higher it does not do it. I say it does that becuase you are close to the transitioning speed that the transmission goes back and forth between OD and 3rd gear. Help with some ideas.

if your truck is 4wd, i would guess play in the drivetrain.
otherwise, i suppose it might be the torque convertor locking/unlocking.

it is a 2wd XLT Ranger 3.0l. Do you think its worth worrying about. Its not really the only car that I have felt it in. It happens on and off in my car and friends and parents but not all the time only around that 50 to 55 mark you know. I think its normal for this but I am a computer repair tech not a car repair person. Anymore help with this additional info.

never nopted this in my AT vehicles. Cars will jerk when downshifting uinder load, but that does not sound like the problem here.
Lets start with the basics... what is the fluid level, and when was it changed last?

Had it changed at like 35,000 miles and that was a year ago. I know have 41,000miles on the truck. The level last time check is correctly in the spot it needs to be. I don't see any other problems in shifting other than the one noted.

Let's make sure we're on the same page here:
Are you accellerating to 50 mph and then letting off the gas? Are you cruising at 50 mph and letting off the gas? If the former ..then you've just got a slightly harsh engagment that should be comensurate with the magnetude of the difference in throttle during your accelleration and the "letting off" (WOT: closed throttle - big bang - half throttle: closed throttle ..less bang). If the latter then you've got other issues ..probably still not too serious.
If you're accellerating and don't let off the gas and just let it evolve to its normal, throttle dictate, speed ..what happens?
If you are accellerating with less throttle and let it evolve to its natural speed, what happens?
If you "fuel squeezer" it while accellerating, what happends?
If you WOT to 50 mph and let off the gas, what happens?
What happens if you transition your throttle as you approach 50 mph instead of "letting off" the gas? (visions of properly configured PID loops)
Answer these questions and you'll have a little more to offer in details that will help with the remote viewing.
