Hi,
Ayrton - I shared accommodation at Herschbroich near Nurburg with a Mercedes Team (Autohaus Sing) at the Nurburgring for the 24hr ADAC-Zurich event this year. I spent a lot of time in their Pits and with their Technical and Prototype Development people. They used M1 0W-40 in their SLK 350 as they do in all of their cars. This is a Team with direct factory linkages
Aston Martin also used M1 0W-40 in their Team cars in the same event. It is used in their engine development programme which is based at Nurburg
They expect a little oil useage in these conditions
I have used M1 M1 0W-40 in my last three Benzes. None of these consumed any lubricant between oil changes. It is the lubricant used by MB Dealers here - the average OCI is around 17kkms (around 11k miles). Of course it is the lubricant used by most Porsche Owners and oil consumption is typically near zero
Most German car makers have an "acceptable" oil use factor and in the case of Porsche this has been 1.5ltrs per 1kkms for some decades now
Mercedes do use a 5W-30 viscosity as a FF in some engine families at Unterturkheim
