Guys,

My father-in-law bleached the white letters on hit tires and got it all over his aluminum wheels. It won't come off. We tried some wheel cleaner he had laying around but it didn't do anything. His rims have spots all over them from the tire bleach. Is there any way to get this rims looking new again? HELP!

I don't think it's the end of the world. You might want to try using some mag/aluminum wheel polish(Mother's or Eagle One) with a orbital buffer. I would think that would be abbrasive enough to get those spots out. Good Luck

It doesn't look like they are coated. I found some info on Mother's Mag and Alumnium Polish. I bought a small jar of that stuff and it works. It will just take a while to get them all polished up, but it does take off the stains from the bleach.

For future reference, tell your father-in-law that an SOS or Brillo pad or a scrubbie sponge with some cleanser works very well for whitewalls/lettering and is much safer than bleach.

Another suggestion for your FIL is to use a product like Eagle One A2Z All Wheel and Tire Cleaner or the new DuPont Wheel and Tire Cleaner. The Eagle One cleaner was ranked #1 in a recent Wheel and Tire Care Guide.

Both are similar products in that they're non acidic, non caustic cleaners that work on both rubber and metals. A stiff scrub brush and the cleaner will clean up the tires quickly and safely. A soft mitt or brush will help on the wheels.

Best thing is both products are available at auto parts stores everywhere.

Can you provide a link to this Wheel & Tire Guide? Thanks.

A2Z seems relatively strong, I'd (personally) be scared to try it on MY wheels.

Plenty of people love it though.

a2z is the secret elixir of car detailing.

out classes westleys bleech white, makes them SO much whiter, cleans rims awesome, safe for paint, chrome wheels

EVEN WORKS AWESOME at taking off wax residue from plastic body cladding, etc. Just spray on a rag and wipe, the wax will come right off.

be careful using any kind of polish on chrome. There is only like 1-2 thousandths of chrome layered over the aluminum or steel. You can burn through it so be careful and only go hard enough to get through the stain.

I've had good luck with using never-dull metal polish wadding on my chromes when they're spotted or stained.
