Hi Guys,

Having intermittent issues with my heater/blower on Cayenne
it will blow for minute then it stops ( adjusting speed does nothing )

It blows longer if only one side is on driver and passenger off.

Is that motor in the blower or if motor was bad it would just not blow at all

do you mean like lose connection ? I don't think thats it because can will be parked not moving and same issues ..

Could be the resistor module, the one on my M5 was fubar and exhibited similar symptoms. It was dirt cheap and about 5 minutes to replace.

When I had a similar issue with my daughter's '03 Civic, the top internet suggestion was the fan unit followed by the control unit followed by the resistor.

My problem was the resistor which I replaced after the fan and control units.

Thx guys.

OVERKILL - where was the resistor located ?
Control Unit do you mean for whole HAVAC ?

I'm waiting for durametric to come then I will scan hvac module maybe it will help.

Hope that its not a control module because its going to be expensive

Got input from friendly mechanic at the dealer ... he said to start with replacing the blower 288$ nice ..

I'm not sure if anyone of you had in mind "blower regulator" - starting 2011 this is integral part of blower motor .. on Cayenne so looks like I just have to bite the bulet

I wonder if there's a thermal breaker for the blower motor(s). I assume there are separate blower fans for driver and passenger?

If there's thermal overloading, you have a blower motor drawing too many amps.

-- never seen a cayenne.

I believe that there is just one blower on passenger side.
2 zones

4 zones most likely have another blower in the back ...

Looking at Manuals no visible thermal braker - I was thinking about this before...

Cayenne = Toureg +-

thank you

I have no idea where it is located, is there a site like realoem.com (for BMW) that exists for Porsche that gives you the break-downs of components, their part numbers and their locations?

If you can find the leads to the blower put a DC voltmeter on them & see if your +12 DC voltage is disappearing. The fact that it seems to die at regular intervals doesn't sound like a motor to me, should be more random or totally dead.

nope, nothing public like it, but I have full level access to repair manuals.
I guess the resistor = regulator that is part of the blower

I will measure the voltage on the plug.

But I have feeling that its the regulator = whole motor replacement ..

thx

Sometimes if the motor isn't turning, and you smack the area where the motor is, it starts turning. That would show the motor failed due to bearing wear.

Anyway, when I had my ION, I had to replace the switchgear and blower motor resistor more than once. It sounds like a similar situation for you. Lucky for me, the A/C system wasn't electronically controlled, that makes many parts cost 10x as much.

Hey guys,

Fyi new motor resolved issue ... Most likely it was bad control board built in with the motor.

Thx
