Headphone Review

Still using MDR-V6(sony) I purchased in college 21 years ago.

Incredible sound then and still now.

Quality Sony stuff Made in Japan.

As a treat, I bought myself a pair of Bower & Wilkins C5:

With little to no break-in, they were the best IEM I've ever listened to. Unfortunatly, I couldn't get used to the fit. From the reviews, many people really like the loop that secures to your ear and a few just can't seem to get them to fit properly. I was in the latter group. I just couldn't get comfortable with them. I tried using them without the loop and they were more comfortable, but they're simply too heavy and kept loosening up.

I couldn't justify keeping an ill-fitting IEM at that price, so I sadly returned them and returned to my decidely "meh" Klipsch.

I finally got the in-the-ear-canal type of buds to fit, but two problems. 1) Every time the cord gets tugged it hurts your ear, and 2) Somehow you don't get bass with these tiny speakers. I get much better bass with a cheap earbud that sits outside the ear canal.

With those in-ear type phones, there needs to be a good seal between the phones and your ear canals for bass to be audible. And even then, some of them just haven't been designed to produce good bass, so it's a matter of an individual product. I've tried a bunch before finding ones that produce good sound AND fit my ears properly. Even then, nothing beats a good old big pair of over-the-ear cans.
