Head bolt torquing

Do we still need to check torque on head bolts? It used to be regular service at some interval. Seemed like it was at the first service interval. Just wondering.
 
What car???

If you have torque-to-yield bolts like a lot of manufacturers use, there's a little extra stretch in there that really jams them tight. I would not worry about checking them.

On anything made since about the mid 80s, absolutely not. Of course, there may be that "rare" exception, but uneeded on most vehicles.
