Havoline opinions?

Dont know much about the oil other than most here think it's a great oil especially for the price you paid. I live in Republic, MO and am still wishing I'd beat your oil hoarding tail to Target.

I did pick up 30 qts of 20w-50 to use in the hydraulics of my commercial mower. Oh well, if I get oil poor I know who to call. What do you drive? Your age? I'm 43, work at Fed Medical Center and drive '97 Ford F150 4.6L, '99 Honda Civic, '96 F150 4.9L L6, '92 Escort 1.9L.

fordhead, I don't have much experience with Havoline either but like you I now have a lot of Havoline 10w-30 that I bought at Target for only .68 per quart. Most of the Havoline available now is the version produced by Chevron. You will know you have the Chevron version of Havoline if it says "Now improved for better engine protection" in the upper right hand corner. You would see that statement in a yellow box. I believe the formula is identical to the Chevron Supreme. Chevron Supreme is highly regarded on this forum by many people. There are some UOAs of Chevron Supreme posted on this forum also.

Norm,
Havoline doesn't make anything. It's just a label. It's currently a label owned by ChevronTexaco Corp., and you probably won't see the Texaco name on much of anything else in the U. S. in the near future. Present Texaco gas stations are actually Shell (really Motiva, a joint venture between Royal/Dutch Shell and Saudi Refining), and will be rebranded.

The Havoline of the last few years was made by Equillon, a joint venture between Shell and Texaco.

Who's on first...?

Havoline makes a fine product line! Been using their dino (?) 2-stroke oil for about 5 years in my H2. Ran better than it ever did in the past decades, with clean, un-fouled plugs & minimal smoke!

The dealership that has changed the oil & filter in the SVX for free since it was new changed from Q State to Havoline about 6 years ago and my engine looks to be very clean: I'm still doing an Auto rx application to make sure.

The fact (rumor?) that Chevron Supreme = Havoline now won't change my mind regarding this product.

Whichever one is $0.68 per quart is A+OK with me!
