I am pleased with this report. My thanks to Terry Dyson for his analysis on this unit.

Nice to see the elevation in flashpoint. But judging from bearing wear the flash just kinda varies based on the temp of the oil.

Looks to be an excellent report for an engine driven hard. The lead seems a little high for the low milage but not unreasonable. I am sure if Terry is helping with this all is well. I guess a low viscosity oil can protect even a rotary.

Cr and iron seem high, based on the miles, but I'm not used to Wankel engine reports.

Why do you sample so early in the OCI? I sample near the end which gives better accuracy.

Al,

I was encouraged by the higher flash point, but it did not translate to lower wear.

TR32001SE,

Low vis can protect the rotary, I just am not convinced that low vis is the BEST protection. Warranty issues preclude my using higher vis oil.

Jay,

The mileage is the OCI, oil was changed. The low mile OCI is due to half of the old oil remaining in the system, a drawback to the design Mazda is using. Frequent OCI is required for long engine life.
