OP here,

To me it looks like you can tip the Pump to remove any excess water.
No place for it to really pond.

Once dry, I spray inside the Base with Fluid Film using the 'atomizer' hose.

Every 5 years, I take any spare Sump Pumps outside and Pump some water.


Sounds like you have a very sound plan. I would have guessed water would be able to pool somewhere.

I always seem to have issues with the cast iron bases on pedestal pumps literally rotting sometimes to the point to where the threads are no good, thus making the pump and base completely useless. Meanwhile the motor runs great..

I don't like plastic components on most things, but here I think it's a good idea.

May surprise some folks but my house her in sunny Florida has a basement! I run a 1/2 hp conventional sump pump in series with my Basement watchdog setup. Almost perfect.

That little guy even alerted me one day when a frog broke the impeller. Awesome machine...
