In the video it was used perfectly but the suspect just had to make his situation worse. Oops. Product website: https://policebumper.com/
This was in Washington State where have essentially decriminalized car theft. Just the other day they busted a guy for his 14th car theft. My guess he free and walking the streets. Ever wonder why your insurance has gone through the roof?So they total the car? May as well let it get stolen.
So how does this device help with that? This was in Washington State where have essentially decriminalized car theft. Just the other day they busted a guy for his 14th car theft. My guess he free and walking the streets. Ever wonder why your insurance has gone through the roof?
Having been a P.I.T. instructor for over 30 years, it can be very safe if done correctly. It's all the variables that creep into the situation that can make it extremely unsafe. And dynamics can cahnge the outcome in an instant. This is why many departments have deemed the maneuver to be considered a deadly force response. Before I retired, I saw the Grappler demo-ed in action. I like it. I like StarChase the best though.safer than a pit![]()
That's funny, I used to work out at The PIT 20yrs ago. Your maneuver is likely FAR safer lol.Having been a P.I.T. instructor for over 30 years, it can be very safe if done correctly. @shortyb I've watched a few PIT compilation videos on YouTube and the scary ones are where the LEO makes contact on the left side making the car skid to the left either into the middle barrier or across the opposing lane. The officers are usually pretty jacked up at the end when they're getting the perp out of the car. This Grappler seems to keep the stop more under control.Having been a P.I.T. instructor for over 30 years, it can be very safe if done correctly.
Yeah, used to work with a few. Taught folks the absolute importance of evaluating the surroundings, which direction things will likely go, and what could happen there, when you move in to make contact. Akin to one cardinal rule of firearm safety; know your target and what is beyond. Grappler does seem to make the officer think and react more controllably, but the possibility still exists for non-involved folks to become involved, with resultant damage/injury likely. Thats why I like the StarChase. You get close enough to identify the suspect and deploy the "dart". Then disengage and let the tracking begin. Gives time for the suspect to slow down and LE a chance to formulate a safer capture response.@shortyb I've watched a few PIT compilation videos on YouTube and the scary ones are where the LEO makes contact on the left side making the car skid to the left either into the middle barrier or across the opposing lane.
