Ford found some power in the off season, wonder if it is the 7.3 cylinder head design, since it is a 2V pushrod setup

Harvick was the winningest Chevy driver before Stewart-Haas switched to Ford, and I was sorry to see him switch brands.
He's such a wily old veteran now that he has ways of getting around certain tracks that others can't conceive. He has a way of floating a car through turns at high speed without using up the car. Uses less engine down the straights and less brakes getting into turns.

The FR9 was pretty much unchanged from last season. Besides being a V8 gas engine, there is little if anything in relation to a production engine.
If anything, the 7.3 benefited from FR9 technology. Ford sure didn't forget how to build powerful pushrod engines since they started concentrating on the Mod and its derivatives.
