Here is some news about the Exxon led discovery of offshore oil in Guyana, off the north coast of South America. Apparently production is now 350,000 bbls per day and increasing. Much of it is going to Europe.

Really. US company, fix your own house first before someone else's. Frig these other countries they burned their own bridges and forced their people on their version of a green new deal, let them live with it. JMHO

Got dat good good

Guyana is now producing two crudes: a medium to light sweet oil called Liza, and an even lighter grade called Unity Gold.

By 2027, the Exxon-led consortium, which only in 2019 inaugurated output, expects to pump 1.2 million bpd. Guyana is expected soon to schedule an auction of oil and gas blocks to attract new companies to its offshore fields.

and going from 350k a day to 1.2mil bpd? Ballers.

Hopefully they can send some here to the USA.

Diesel almost $7 a gallon at Flying J in California.

Everything is sunshine and roses…..

In 1997 I did an economic study on Guyana. The study was centered on how the only English-speaking country in South America could be so poor. Guyana was/is full bursting with natural resources to include lumber, gold, and fresh water. Yet Guyana on many scales was the poorest country in South America (in 1997). Two other weird facts, Guyana as a country only had one full-service hospital, and one properly paved main road.

On a good note- Guyana made one outstanding sipping rum- El Dorado.

And if anyone cares why an English-speaking country so rich in natural resources was so very poor- gridlock between two diverse groups. French Guyana, its neighbor to the South is so much better off than Guyana. Britian granted Guyana independence, and Guyana (as of 1997) was not healthy in managing its independence. French Guyana is still a territory of France.

With a population of around a million people, Guyana may become the largest oil producer per capital in the world. Let’s hope that government corruption does not enter into it, like so many other oil producers.

Unfortunately, often is the case in situations like that.
