I heard the Greeks retire at age 50.
If true maybe thats part of their problem.
they probably have a minimal defense cost and I bet they dont give money to foreign countries like the US does, so whats causing their problems?

It's amazing (and discusting) that we continue this foolishness when our roads, bridges, schools, hospitals etc...are in decay.
The EU will fall apart eventually. Unlike the US, which it was formed to compete with, the EU members(independent countries) all basically compete on another are motivated by self interest.
If you look at it Greece is kind of like occupier/socialist/49% not paying taxes crowd here.
The euro is a failed system. They gave up their monetary sovereignty. And I have read the Greeks actually work more hours than the Germans.
And this thread will/should be locked.
# of hours worked isn't a good measure.
Productivity is the most important measure, and I'm guessing there is a huge gap there.
We won't be far behind. Our Debt is on a pretty steep curve and there is nothing that suggests that it is going to stop.
Pay attention to this folks, bc its our future.
Our Ponzi Scheme will function for a few years yet.

Greece have always been one of Europes poorest countries and anyway they can retire at 50, Here in sweden we have to work until 65 and they have been speaking for last years to raise it to 67.
Greece have insane problems with corruption and now when Germany try to help them to control their economy they refuse to take any help from the germans they only want the money, All money sent to Greece are lost in the corrupt system and thats the way they want keep the system.
They have a horrible personell overcapacity in government owned companies and have always had that and if they dont want cut down on personell now during the crisis when will they do it??
Greece have been Europes black sheep for many years and there is a lot of hate against Greece from the populations in other European countries now and if they fail to get rid of the corruption and change the way they handle their economy there will be no else outcome than a bankruptcy.
If they choose a bankruptcy they have totally lost all confidence from european banks, companies and populations, Their way back up on the road will be very hard because of that.
I have already heard from many people here in sweden that they start to boycott greece products and also vacation trips to Greece because they dont want support their corrupt system anymore.
