Saw this on Reddit:

“Please do not apply if you oversleep, have no alarm clock, have no car, have court often, have no baby sitter every day, have to give friends rides to work later than we start work, experience flat tires every week, have to hold on to cell phone all day, or become an expert at your job with no need to learn or take advice after the first day," the ad read. "Must be able to remember to come back to work after lunch. Should not expect to receive Purple Ribbons or Gold Star for showing up to work on time."

What a sad state we’re in these days.
 
Perhaps they need to pay better and treat their employees better :unsure:

The ones that write signs like that are usually terrible places to work.

But most assuredly, if employees are demanding more pay or more benefits than a temporary job is worth, said business will resort to more automation and fewer employees when they cannot find a labor supply. Then the job market will be tighter and employers will be able to pay less for labor because the available pool is overflowing.

If there’s 10 jobs for every hundred applicants, the worker benefits. But when there’s a hundred applicants for every job, the employer holds all the cards.

This has been the same story for the past forty years.

It's almost like some people want this to come true, so they keep repeating it, but it hasn't happened yet.

In the mean time, it's business as usual: Terrible places to work and terrible people to work for still say things like this.

Even so, nobody actually posted this or put it in a help wanted ad anywhere else except Facebook or reddit. Of the things that didn't happen, this didn't happen the most.

If your business has such tight margins that you can't afford pay a reasonable, livable wage to your employees perhaps there's another larger problem that doesn't involve the employees... Either that, or you should just accept that you pay poverty wages and your employees are going to perform at a level that represents that.

This will happen to every sector and at every level possible as soon as the technology has evolved to make it profitable to do so. Using automation as a boogeyman against higher wages is old hat.

It sounds like this place has more problems than just low pay. They seem to be awful even by low-paying job standards.

haha, this is witty. I like it!

Reminds me of a man I knew growing up. He ran a local business and couldn't keep employees and always complained about the quality of the young people that would apply. He paid the least amount of money he was required to pay for their labor but he spent plenty when he'd fly off in his private airplane to his weekend house at Smith Mountain Lake one state away.

He just didn't understand why people didn't want to work.

Oh, and he was a part-time preacher too.
