Great coaches

John Wooden, Bear Bryant, Don Shula, Mike Krzyzewski, Connie Mack, Dean Smith, Pat Summitt, and George Halas have to be on this list. I just realized how many great ones come from the college basketball ranks.
Don Shula yes.
Duffy Daugherty, Bo Schembechler too

Lotsa great sports coaches; I would like to add a personal mentor, Dave Huber.
Dave was perhaps the best business applications programmer I have ever met, and was recognized (aka paid) as such. I was fairly new in recovery and had never had a professional job before. I still had a long way to go to get a degree.
No matter how much I asked for his specific help, he would at best point me in the right direction. I would snivel and ask him why he would not tell me more. "Well, I could, but you're too good." Dave gave me the confidence to take on the most demanding programming; to challenge Silicon Valley CEOs on business logic.

Came here excited for a discussion about a different type of coach. Carry on.
