Grease Zerk

Are all grease zerks replaceable? I got one on one of my balljoints that is leaking out of the grease zerk (from the opening where the little ball is supposed to hold it shut.) It does not look removeable it has a perfectly round shaft. I was going to use my pliers and take it off but I do not want to risk damage to it. Are all grease zerks removeable?

That's strange, does it not have a hex head? All the ones I remember seeing are threaded, and thus, removable.

It is called a drive type and is designed for quick assembly. You simply knock it in. Clamp a vise grip on it and pullit out, and knock in a new one or, the orfice may be tapped and you can screw in a new one.

I've taken them out before to replace straight with right angle and stuff like that. Round perhaps means someone tried before you????

Thanks for the replies, its rounded but not worn, I will pull it off next time I get the tires off to grease everything. I am going to assume it is a drive type like you guys said.
