My 29 ford transmission leaks quite a bit, and I was wondering if filling it with "00" grease would be a viable option. I know it won't leak as much, but will it protect properly. This is never driven in cold weather, or on long trips of over 20 miles, and then probably only once or twice a year.

The Transmission in my 1930 model A was a bit noisy, so I filled it with STP. That was 30 years ago, it's still fine today.

The Ford model A club of America website states that it takes a 600w steam oil. Shell still makes it under the "valvatta" name supposedly. Other sources states to use an M-533 lubricant.
