Had two trucks going down I-5, and they were both throwing gravel. Plus they are supposed to do 60 MPH. Cars can do 70. It seems trucks do about 66 MPH. Had two trucks doing a good clip and the cars did not want to get by them briskly. Therefor I get sprayed with gravel for a couple of minutes. mad I know trucks are out there to make life easier.........But I just get teed off with the gravel spraying the front of my car..........

They don't enforce the tarp laws, and it only takes a minute to roll it across with the crank. Take the plate number, a video helps if you can. They must pay for damages.

It's just real hard to prove their truck did the damage. Seems a lot of the big trucks just leak gravel out of the tailgates etc as well.

.....Aaaannnnddddd that's when I pull over for a minute, let the morons go down the road a mile or so, then continue my journey without damaging the paint of me sweet black on black higway missile. Seriously. I've done that a few times. It's easier to use my brain and stop for a minute to avoid the problem, rather than continue to drive behind a truck like that while being peppered with debris, then complain about it later.

Yes I thought about pulling off an exit for a couple of minutes. Might do that next time. As I get older the less I feel the urge to be in a big hurry like everyone else. And for what purpose? 90% of the time the people driving like maniacs don' really have a reason to be in a hurry.........

And 90% of the time the maniacs don't get there any faster than you do...provided you are going to the same place. I usually slow down and/or pull off if I get behind a truck carrying gravel. But I'm fortunate in that I don't drive as much as I used to so it's not so much a problem.

What kind of trucks were they? Were they gravel trucks or flatbed or what? Often trucks get blamed for gravel hitting cars when the truck isn't even a gravel truck. They are just picking up rocks that were already laying in the road.

The gravel trucks here are typically pretty good about having their loads tarped. It's the drilling site salt water trucks I hate. They will just pull in front of you. 60 mph down a state highway or Farm to Market road and they will just pull right off the drill site in front of you. Then their trucks are covered in lime and mud and their back tires are packed with large rocks. One of the two sets of rear tires might actually have a mudflap but it is hanging precariously at a 45° angle. Then as they pick up speed, the rear tires start flinging rocks. Mostly straight back. I've got a rock chip on my roof from one. They keep accelerating until they are on the verge of losing control. If you are on a two lane blacktop, they are probably using part or all of your lane and will put you in the ditch rather than slow down. You can't see the tag to report them. Too much mud. Don't know how they don't get ticketed on sight by law enforcement.

Call the state police. I have and they do not play and vehicles over and ticket. Especially in our state with highway enforcement (guys who deal with truck safety etc).
