I traded my 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan (3.3 V6) about a year ago for a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan (3.8 V6). On long trips, I could get about 320 miles out of a 20 gal. tank of gas before I was red-lining with the 2002. On the 2005 Grand Caravan, I've gone about 420 miles before red-lining (20 gal tank). Is this due to the motor 5W/20 motor oil? I used 5W/30 in the '02.

My 2000 GC 3.3 easily goes 400+ miles before the low fuel light comes on on trips. ~25MPG. Local driving gets ~18MPG. I'm currently running M1 10W30.

That's good mileage with the 3.8. How do you like the 2005?

looking at consumers guide on caravan and grand caravan:
for 2005:*****189.1" = 3908 lbs & 200.5" = 3960 lbs.
for 2006:*****189.1" = 3763 lbs & 200.5" = 4183 lbs
for 2001-2004: 189.1" = 3869 lbs & 200.5" = 4011 lbs
for 1996-2000: 186.3" = 3528 lbs & 199.6" = 3680 lbs
for 1991-1995: 178.1" = 3305 lbs & 192.8" = 3573 lbs

Maybe the weight difference is the reason?
