I finally bought a telephoto lens. I've been wanting one for the last 1 year or so. Wanted to buy a Canon IS lens but they cost a lot of $$$$.
Ended up buying a Tamron F4-5.6 70-300mm lens. Checked eBay for some time before making a decision. Strangely, used lenses on eBay sell for almost as much as brand new ones on Amazon.
Unlike its close counterpart, this lens lacks a 'macro' feature on it (for photographing bees and stuff at high zoom from close by) but for that I can use some of my other lenses. The minimum distance for focus is 1.5 meters.
The absence of image stabilization makes itself known. In darker conditions you certainly need a tripod and a remote control.
Tomorrow I'll charge the battery in the camera and go take some pictures of birds flying and stuff.
