They should last as long as any other standard filter. 5K miles should be no problem.

well gee....how helpful....
the filters are for VAG 1.8T engines (& others int he VAG line)and are the Supertech brand from Wally World. and they were indeed only .50 cents a piece. however, i am wondering if these filters would be okay to use for say 5K miles instead of the Mann/Mahle VAG oil filters?
I know the stock ones are supposedly good up to 30,000km and thought that at the least theses new cheap filters (i know theyre made by Champion.) would be okay to use for at least 5K miles-right?

After your first change cut one open and take a look. Almost guarantee you can easilty go 5-7500 miles if engine basically clean and operating fine. Oil Filters, IMO, actually do not perform much of a function, catastrophic failure backup.
