I'd buy that if it was around here!

That was at a Walmart in Canada and they don't always stock it.

Just get one that is 229.5, A40, and LL-01 approved. Beyond that it's pure opinion.

The highest oil temp I've seen in my 2017 EA888 2.0T was 260F. It was a sustained spirited drive in the upper rpm, and the oil temp ranged from 245 to 255 for most of the 45 min. It had Castro's 0w40 in it at the time.

I personally would be fine with 0w40 229.5/LL01/A40/502/504 oil up to 260F. If I expect to see more than a few sessions of such driving, i would be tempted to go to something with a higher HTHS rating, or better yet get additional oil cooling to keep oil temp down.

The key here is to make sure your oil choice is ok within the operating temperature limits. You said you only go full throttle a few seconds at a time. So you are probably fine with any of the 229.5/LL01/A40/502/504 oils.

Get additional oil cooling if you are really worried. As long as oil temp don't exceed 260F for long periods of time, you should be ok.

0W40 oil that meets VW504.00 does not exists.
Take into consideration that VW504.00/507.00 is used in Germany in those engines and GTI's on autobahn are seeing much higher oil temperatures than in any driving condition in the US. So, HTHS of 3.7 is more than enough.

When I first got my Genesis Coupe 2lT and took it out on the track the oil would hit 300F after 4 laps in 90F ambient temps. I was using M1 5w30. Did a oil analysis after wards and they said no problem. Too it out again on the same oil under similar circumstances and it too hit 300F and the oil analysis came back still good but fuel dilution was starting to happen. 1500 miles in between the track days too.

Reaching 300F momentarily is ok with a good synthetic, as confirmed by your oil analysis. Oxidation rate goes up exponentially with temperature though. So hopefully it's part of the analysis and it's in check. I believe it's the temperature at which the C7 Corvette's temperature warning light comes on.

We have different personal tolerances. Yours is higher (braver) than mine. I would spend money on an oil cooler or start short shifting by 500-1000 rpm unless my life depends on it.

Also looks like that engine is very well built !!! Good choice.

you will usually NOT really know what lesser oils are doing to your engine, but if you want to keep it healthy a longer time true synthetic PAOs + Esters are best, or use a decent fake synthetic group III as most are + change more often. i believe you have a 7 qt capacity which is a plus for sure. i am next door in Pa + a 10W works for me as anything but true synthetics break down faster with wider spreads aka 0W 40 for instance. in my 300 tq 275 hp 1.8T jetta with a small 4.25 qt capacity i ran Redline 10-30 for 200,000 miles before trading for my present TT 1.8T 300 hp + TQ its lower miles but looser so it gets Redline 10-40 for a winter fill at summers end + rarely driven, come warmer weather i top off with Redline 15-50 + see more vacuum + less consumption. both Vag cars are 2001, bought jetta new + the TT a few years ago with about 40 thou on it. love the tunability of them with lots of options. theres a shop in Lebanon Pa APTuning.com good people i use when i don't DIY it, got both cars APR tuned there, fair prices for quality work IMO!! they do tranny work for local dealers, check out their site!! just wondering about a turbo upgrade as you can overwhelm your drivetrain with simple bolt ons, upgrade exhaust is a biggie, add a tune + WOW!! i am limited with port injection but todays Vag cars with direct injection can be greatly enhanced with just a PROPER tune, check out goapr.com for some impressive dyno #'s
