GM E.V. : Best selling model is ...

First thought, how does that vehicle stack up in a crash with a Tahoe, escalade, Navigator, F150, etc... I'm guessing from looks, not the best but I'm also stating because maybe I'm wrong and it has a heck of a safety cage. Someone here will know.

I'm lucky I do not need a new vehicle at the moment. A few years out. Overall, very disappointed in the current EV offerings. This world can sure do a lot better in performance as well as size and capacity.

I like the concept of a go-cart to run the errands which are 90% of our trips is just what we need. But as this humorous link explains, this is a alternative to a motor scooter, not a traditional car. And 9 hours to charge 60 miles at 220 volts.

That charging time is not limited by 220v

it has 9kwh battery.. and you could charge that in less than 9 hours at 120v.

So, it must be limited by the onboard charger?

You could have the most invincible safety cage in the world and still get killed by Delta-v when you get punted by a larger vehicle. The human body can only take so much force, even in the absence of intrusion.

The video says they designed this “vehicle” in 12 months. It has no air bags. No passenger seat belt buzzer. Ya think they spent a lot of time on crumple zones?

Sure. But that cage is pretty darn effective.

Reminds me of the Top Gear Smart Car crash test.

I was thinking about posting this last week. It is sort of like a Kei car or other 3rd world mini car, not really intended for constant 90mph US highway driving along with other SUVs and crew cab driver driving high. The density of Chinese cities are way higher and most likely this will go between apartment complexes, offices, shopping center, parks, maybe a day trip or two at 30mph. It is not intended for the US or even European style driving.

Cheaper than moped and definitely more than bicycles, more comfortable than subways and buses. For the price of 3 iPhones I don't think I'll complain.

The brand: Wuling (5 rhombus / diamonds) , is IMO sort of a parody to Mitsubishi (3 rhombus / diamonds). Its reputation is supposedly with their low price, simple, versatile microvan that rural farmers buy for their works: hauling produces to the market, transporting workers between fields, and of course dirt road drifting and other redneck street racing. Sort of their Model T, VW Beetle.
