I think the GM 4718 spec is the synthetic spec.(Caddy/Vetts)
and Dexos 1 is the new semi-synthetic spec. for all the rest
of 2011 and newer engines. The best oil to use would still
be a full synthetic.

LOA® 55503 - ILSAC GF-5 /API SN and dexos1® approved.
OLOA 55503 meets Chrysler Service Fill, Ford Service Fill, Legacy GM Service Fill specifications and is GM dexos1® approved. The dexos1® specification is recommended for factory/service fill for 2011 GM gasoline powered vehicles and required for 2011 Corvette, Camaro SS and several Cadillac models.

The key differences between dexos1® and ILSAC GF-5/API SN is that dexos1® includes:
GM proprietary tests Opel RNT and Opel OP-1

European ACEA engine tests for deposit, wear and sludge protection, like TU5JP, TU3MS and M271SL

a higher Sequence IIIG WPD requirement: 4.5 vs. 4.0

higher Sequence VG sludge requirements: AES 8.3 vs. 8.0, RCS 8.5 vs. 8.3

lower Noack Volatility, which means improved oil consumption

passing the Bosch Injector Shear Stability test for better shear stability for improved wear protection

OLOA 55503 with dexos1® certification is the product that was formulated with you in mind. It is versatile, flexible and provides logistical simplification where a single product that meets ILSAC GF-5 and dexos1® in multiple base oils is important.
So whether you are an independent lubricant manufacturer or a global company with regional needs, OLOA 55503 is the right product for you.
