Glue ripped sanding belts together?

I have some ripped sanding belts from a hand electric belt sander. To try to fix them I was thinking using super glue overlayed with metal duct tape or flex tape. ?????

Once they’re torn I just cut the bad spots out of mine and use them for hand block sanding. They hold up like crazy for that use. at least they’re not a total waste.

Try it and let us know. I'd be pretty darn skeptical, though.
