gonna be detailing the car soon, it's black by the way. my steps are :
1*- wash car
2 - clay & wash
3 - final wash then dry in garage
4* - polish
5* - glaze
6 - sealant
7 - maybe wax

my reason for asking, after having read the net (autopia, properautocare) for detailing tips and opinons, is I want to use a glaze to get a really nice, deep, scratch free shine. And from what I hear, the way to go is more than one coat of glaze with it curing because glaze is layerable.
So, does anyone have any recommendations which glaze would be best? I'm thinking either meguiars #7 show car glaze, or ClearKote vanilla moose. I think 3M has one, but I'm not familiar with it.

I've used zaino, been using ibiz, but the car needs a good claying and polishing after this winter. And from what I've been reading, the Klasse Sealant is the way to go for protection and durability, followed by a carnuba for killer shine. So I think I'm going to go with the klasse all-in-one for the polish, then use a few coats of glaze, followed by the klasse sealant then a wax, either ps12, or souveran.

Only thing that stinks are all the chips I have in the front end, anyone have any solutions for that? It's not that bad, but when I'm up close doing the detailing it's a bummer.

The Vanilla Moose is a great choice. Not only does it look great but it is MUCH easier to use than #7 or most any other. It is not a layerable product though.....it has a very small amount of cleaner in it and can actually help with very minor swirls - which nearly any black car will inevitably show in direct sunlight.

I would skip the clay and second wash and do this:

1) Wash and dry. Let dry and get car into shade
2) Use a cleaner compound. OTC (shelf cleaners) are not all that strong but they may or may not do
3) Polish with a glaze designed for shine; if need be use a polish or glaze before the shiner glaze to remove swiril marks, oxidation, discoloration and foriegn particles (Show Car Glaze is good; Machine Glaze is the best but requires a RB)
4) Meguiar's No 26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax (partial sealent and partial wax)

If your paint is bad, then you can resort to the 5 step system although I doubt it will be if you have kept up on washing and waxing.
