was at Autozone today and the German made Castrol Syntec 0/30 is now made in the U.S. and did not have the green look to it. Looks like the 'real' stuff is gone or it's on the way out, so too all of the one's who were buying it you better get on down to Autozone and maybe get whatever is left in stock!!!

There's still TONS around me. All of the Autozones have it in stock. I'm now using Synergyn 0w-20 though.

NOT IN MARYSVILLE, WASHINGTON!!! it's the 'made in usa' type of oil now - not German, which tells me all the other Autozones are next when their orders go in for more stock! Just thought all the Castrol buyers would be interested, is of no concern of mine being it's only Mobil 1 here.

With the current exchange rates I doubt it makes financial sense for BP/Castrol to ship motor oil from Germany to the US.

99.99% of the Castrol motor oil purchasers could care less which country their bottle of oil was made in.

I visited 2 Autozone stores today, 1 in Murray, Ky. and 1 in Paris, Tn., and no GC Castrol. All the 0w30 was made in the USA. I wanted to try GC but was unable to find any in my area of the country.

If the German-made Castrol disappears from AutoZone stores then I will have to conclude that there was no serious desire to sell this product in the USA. My guess would be that it was sold just to get rid of surplus product that was not selling in Europe.

This made in USA oil.... does it have an A3 rating ??????????????????????? If it does it is still a new and better formulation over the first Syntec 0w30 .

I don't use and don't care one way or the other except if it's not german made , not green it still does not mean it is no good now and of not any worth . An ACEA A3 0w30 is going to be some good stuff regardless who makes it .Of course some will be better than others .

Makers of " some " 0w-30's in other parts of the world have gone to group III/Ester .... good stuff there especially if it's of the Shell or Mobil VHVI type group III " Slack Wax ".

This 0w30 thing kinda reminds me of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust

The more that I think about it the more I think I will just use 5w30 Chevron or Castrol conventional (maybe Mobil 1 in the wintertime), the best oil filter element that I can find for the best price, and Auto-RX cleaning every 25,000 miles. Perhaps Lubegard engine flush once in a while.

Your Amsoil dealers here have some fine products, which can save you money with extended rain intervals. Very appropriate for any appication you might have.

Removed link to your personal Amsoil Sales Site. We have 2 Amsoil Sponsers on this site. Please don't link to your site again. Thanks

As I posted a few weeks ago, there is a brand new batch number of GC 0w30 showing up in my local Walmart, so it looks like it's here to stay at least up here. They have tons of it in stock too. And no more of the old stuff is left behind.

Within the last 2 years the value of the Euro compared to the dollar has risen about 50% and there is no end in site. Combine this with the increased import duty costs it looks like your run of German made Castrol may be at an end. Heck at this point in time Castrol USA may be exporting oil to Europe

Castrol added the new updated 0w30 specs recently . Although I guess it's easy to change the website I bet that oil is here to stay but sure might be a different formulation . Might not be for the worse though . Time will tell when VOA's , used oil analysis of the A3 made in USA stuff comes through BITOG .And it sounds silly but posts on the difference in the odor of the A3 USA made Castrol might help tell of a reformulation

Best part is in the trend . I do not believe in a competitive market Castrol will be the only A3 0w30 counter oil for long .

Valvoline has some neat real deal synlubes in Europe . Maybe they will step up and give us some goodies ?

It's hit and miss at my autozone. One week, it's there, another week, it's not. Last time I was in, it was in stock.
