I'm sorry if this question has already been asked, but is GC gold group III, PAO or what? It looks like the green stuff is nearing extinction and I've been reading all of this good stuff about GC, but very little about GC gold. I've purchased some gold and I will try it in my Honda. Thank you for your answers in advance.
Look at the specs Gold GC meets. They are very tough and same specs that the U.K. Castrol SLX Lontec meets. Try to find a Group 3 oil that meets VW 503.01 - I bet it can't be found. I did some tests of GC at high temps and it performed same as Mobil 1 EP 10W-30 in terms of volatility and deposit control. For a 0W-30 oil to equal a 10W-30 Group 4/5 oil in these tests is quite amazing and cannot occur without super basestocks for the 0W-30 oil. Two other people on this forum (Bruce and a chemical engineer, I believe) did testing on Gold vs Green GC's properties and those tests indicated the basestocks are same or very similar.
