I hope this is another boring report, with TBN this time.
There aren't too many engines like that here on this board, so I decided to see if I can go the normal OCI that I used to in Europe. I think I can.

Sump capacity is less then 4qts. No make-up oil and no oil burning/usage.
GC was the mix of '03 & '04 batches, two bottles of each.
6oz of LC at the beginning, 1oz every 1000miles, 12oz in total. FP at prescribed rate in every tank.

The oil had stayed in the sump from Feb 26 to June 18. I drive about 75% highway at the speed limit, I'm pretty light on the throttle. Amsoil filter (SDF-10, very small). Stock paper air filter has been changed in the middle of the interval.
This oil has seen some serious cold, as well as some extreame heat.

Previous results are for the baseline purposes.

I guess there are few items to mention:
- I'm not sure whether the oil sheared, or was it LC dillution?
- Where did Boron & Phosphorus go? Normal additive wear-out?
- Is this a normal number for Copper?

After this run I put M1 SS 5w-30 and I'd like to run it for three intervals (with LC), then sample. This should tell me what to do with my M1 & GC stashes :)
Engine already seems rougher at idle on M1.
If GC ended up with 11.6 viscosity with LC, I wonder what happens to M1 then. We'll see.

This is one excellent report. Why did you go to M1. I seriously double if you can do any better than this. This is truely outstanding.

I just couldn't resist M1 at the sale price around last Christmas. So now I have to show my best half that the oil gets some use. Plus, I thought it would be interesting to run M1 during the same Feb-June interval next year. So I'll use M1 for the next three short (5k km) intervals (warranty) to establish the baseline, and then run 10k km and take a sample. Another GC vs M1 thread

Hope it doesn't destroy my engine

LC will dilute by definition only, not by practical numbers IMO. Only slight shearing anyhow, within any margin of error. Boron is quite depleted, yep, it's used up.

TBN of 4.63! WOW! Amazing! 12000KM is no problem with this setup! Don't change a thing!!

Thank you guys!

On this shearing subject...
The engine cam shafts are chain- driven, and it has no roller lifters. It uses hydraulic adjusters. So I guess it should be a bit harder on oil...

BTW...what method does wearcheck use to measure TBN? Do they use the more conservative D-4739 or the D-2896 or Dexil? If its the conservative D-4739, then 4.63 is excellent! If its the other scale, then the number is pretty sorry.
