Hi,

First time I'm posting this, so not sure if this is the correct way

Petrol Engine 4.2 Litres

Code:
OIL MAKE -

Metals (ppm)

Aluminium (Al) 5

Copper (Cu) 8

Chromium (Cr)
Iron (Fe) 15

Lead (Pb) 5

Tin (Sn) 1

Nickel (Ni) 1

Contaminants and Additives (ppm)

Silicon (Si) 11

Boron (B) 5

Sodium (Na) 7

Potassium (K) 1

Phosphorus (P) 945

Molybdenum (Mo) 7

Magnesium (Mg) 413

Calcium (Ca) 2164

Zinc (Zn) 1042

Physical Tests

Water (%)
Nitration (Abs) 15.2

Viscosity (cSt,40°C) 63

PQ Index
Glycol (Abs) 0.6

Petrol (% by Distillation) 2.4

This is an RB26 and I was using German Castrol 0w30.
The viscosity seems a little low?

The diagnosis said:
Quote:
All wear levels appear within acceptable limits for
first sample. Silicon level (dirt/sealant material)
satisfactory. Water content acceptable. Fuel
dilution satisfactory. Please check recorded
viscosity against requirements

The engine never really sees over 90 degrees, but its more common to run 10w40 rather than 0w30.

Feedback appreciated.

Thanks,
Gareth

Welcome to BITOG!

How many km total on the engine?

Which lab did the analysis?

It's showing 2.4% fuel dilution, so that is possibly what is bringing down the viscosity.

Also, what's up with that glycol? Isn't glycol basically coolant/antifreeze?

Most of the time 2.4% fuel dilution will throw a flag, that is definitely why the oil is thinner. You have better "petrol" in Australia compared to the US. so that is probably why the lab didn't flag it.

Sorry I didn't see the replies earlier

There was no additive added to the oil / fuel.
I do run anti-freeze for the coolant, I hope that is not leaking into my oil

The engine has done approx 180,000km. Its hard to tell as the odometer shows 88 thousand km, but the car did 150 thousand km according to auction papers (which disappeared during importation

The fuel is 98 octane, so most likely has some additives as its there top of the range fuel.

The analysis was done by "wearcheck" in Australia which I believe is ALS.
