Gas Saving Oil ???

Generally speaking, yes.

1) Lower startup viscosity means lower mechanical power loss resulting in higher MPG and reduced startup wear.

2) Better resistance to oxidative thickening while in service which should result in some fuel economy gains.

The magnitude of the savings is a huge matter for debate and will depend upon how the engine is operated and the amount of use the oil remains in service.

3% is likely the best you will ever see. I have seen a number of studies in truck and car fleets and thats as good as it gets.

From what i know about this I think each personal owner will not see a change in gas consumption, but if everyone in North America switched to Energy Conserving oils the national fuel consumption would go down a little.

I have used synthecs on all my vechiles and never noticed an increase in mpg, however, the only time they were on dino was the break in oil.
