FYI on 2006 Golf (2.0L bev engine code)

For anyone else the owns an oddball 06 Golf just an FYI on the correct filters for these.

The 06 model year was only produced for 1/2 of the 06 production period before the Golf was superceeded by the new Rabbit.

In a lot of application catalogues the filter is incorrectly listed as a cartridge type filter. I ran into this when buying a Wix filter for it the other day.

To get the correct filter you have to look at the 05 model year with the BEV engine code.

It took me forever to convince the parts counter guy that 1) no the filter is not a cartridge, it is a spin on and 2) yes I have changed the oil in the car before so yes I do know what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the heads up. Is this for the 2006 Mark IV Golf or for the 2006 Mark V Golf?

It would be the Mk IV. The Mk V was referred to as the 2006.5 model. Volkswagen seems especially keen on .5 model years.
