The one time an oil filter has to actually do it's job this FVP doesn't. Verified Proven Failure to go the distance.

Media tear both ends of two pleats. Tears are either side of the metal media crimp. ADV very stiff. (ADV Not really needed the way the filter is mounted in this application.)

The intake boot from the air filter to the 3.0L Honda V6 engine cracked allowing some grit into the engine and last line of defense is a functioning oil filter. This is on the water thin 5W-20W oil as well. Oil was changed as part of the boot repair. About one year in use low miles, but, IDK the actual miles on it.

This was serviced at an oil change place before it was obtained
Quick lubes use the cheapest filters (and oil) they can source. Good on the new owner on changing the oil and filter asap.
ADV Not really needed the way the filter is mounted in this application
ADBV's keeps the oil from draining out of the heads (cam bearings) and upper engine oil passages (timing chain tensioners). Upwards mounted oil filters still need ADBV so that these areas do not dry start after sitting over time, as the oil can drain out of those areas even if the filter itself does not empty due to it bring mounted upward.

The intake boot is fixed and new oil and filter so it being a Honda it should be good for a long time.

An ADBV is still needed any time there is oil located in galleries that are above the oil filter location. When the engine is off, gravity tries to make any oil above the oil level in the sump to drain down to that level. If oil drains down and through the filter, oil can still remain in the filter, but drain out of the galleries above the filter location.

So, what oil and filter went back in and on?

Thank You

Sorry for your loss. It happens from time to time & we'll recommend sticking with a reputable name brand at the minimum or extended type filter to help prevent this from occurring again. Thanks for sharing this since it helps us record different brands & their failures.
