Fuel filter location on '05 Pathfinder?

Holy hades. I've spent more time looking for the flipping fuel filter on this thing -vs- changing oil, changing the oil filter, installing a fumoto drain valve, and replacing the air filter.

Where in the heck is the fuel filter located at?

Wix doesn't have one listed, so it may just be a permanent in-tank unit that does not require replacement. May just be one of those that's merely a coarse screen.

Well, #@$%!. I went to Wix's website and also noticed that that the 33023 is in reference to the Frontier, not the Pathfinder.

I don't understand why they would have one on the same engine (V6 4.0L) for the Frontier and not the Pathfinder. Makes no sense at all.

I could speculate many reasons why there’s one on the Frontier but not the Pathfinder. Maybe the Pathfinder is equipped with a different fuel pump that doesn’t require one. Or perhaps the Frontier’s fuel tank cannot accommodate an in-tank filter whereas the Pathfinder’s can. Maybe there just isn’t room in the Pathfinder to plumb an in-line unit, I don’t know. :shrug:

Since you are so handy at installing bypass filters, maybe you can plumb an in-line TP fuel filter using a Frantz or MG unit instead.

I've already contemplated doing that, but the next question would be this.....is the fuel pump stout enough to push gasoline through a dense filter?

I intend on digging a little more into this in order to find out why in the heck there isn't an inline filter factory installed.

Man, this is what happens when I start messing with gas burners. Give me a Cummins Turbo Diesel any day of the week

Just in case anyone else has a newer model Pathfinder....The fuel filter is an in tank setup that's part of the fuel pump assembly.
