French R 134a

Get this, the FRENCH pointy head bureaucrats haave banned the sale of certain Mercedes automobiles in France because they contain "that potent environmental poison" R 134a in their AC units. Gee, I thought R 134a replaced "that potent environmental poison" R 12. We know "environmentalists" hate everybodys air conditioning but their own, but something like 80 % of the cars on the road in France use R134a. Some say, that the save the world ban is more related to the sorry state of FRENCH auto sales, especially in the high end models.
So much for the "European Union".

Personally, I believe (if you follow the money trail), that it's all about patents and patents that are or are about to be expired.

How long, I wonder, will it take for the replacement for R134a to be declared an "environmental poison"?

Obviously, and this has been shown by the patent holder, as long as they can hold the patent...

Maybe the environmental weenies can find a way to ban HEATERS in cars as well, and thus move on toward their goal of getting rid of the hated automobile, excepot perhaps for 100 grand battery cars.
