Frantz 3 Stacker tp change interval

I just bought an old Frantz 3 Stacker bypass oil filter on Ebay to install on my 02 Chevy Duramax.It holds 3 rolls of tp and looks like it could also hold about 2-3 gallons of oil.Wondering how often I need to change the tp.Any ideas?

Ralph should get back to you shortly. He's had a few in his history. If you do a search on "stacker" ..you may have do a bit of reading ..but somewhere in there it should say how long he ran it ..or how long it was run on the engine in question.

I did a search and found nothing on this filter.I got a hold of Frantz,they faxed me 2 pages on it.One was a diagram of the internal parts,the other was a test Grayhound Bus did on it in Australia.In that test they never changed the filter or oil for 127,242KM(79,000 Mile).Three oil analysis were done during that period by Mobil Oil.Very impressive results.

I've had a 3-stacker Frantz and liked it. When I sold my Ford van, a 1970, it went with the van. I changed the oil based on TBN. This was back in 1970 and I ran Delo 400 15w30. At a TBN of around 3 I changed oil. Not science, but back then it was the best solution I could figure out. I had a a kit, that would give you a TBN reading. I have not seen the kits but they must still be used by someone.

Put "stacker" into the search engine. Make sure that you change the default "1 week" to "1 year" (or as many years as you please) and see what come up. I assure you there is more then a few posts where Ralph, and others, talk about the 3 stacker. This often catches some off guard

Thanks Gary,I found them.Looks like I can go 12-15K from what I read.I haven't installed it yet.It looks like it is designed to be installed vertically,but I can't find a place to put it.I think I'll install it horizonally on the driverside frame rail.My guess,it should work either way.Just a lot more messy to change TP.

It should work just fine in the horizontally mounted. It will just, perhaps, load in a different manner then it would vertically. Maybe it's getting the air out of it

..but that too should work out as the other parts of it get saturated and cannot pass oil ..or so I reason (for the moment or two of thought that I put into it

)
