FRAM XG11934 still wire backed

This is for the Palisade.
My first experience with this filter as I have a few FD11934 and like all the others, it isn't wire backed.

Interesting. I wonder if some of the lower volume filters are still wire backed? Older stock? I picked up two XG16 filters for my Jeep 4.0L and noticed both of them were wire backed looking from the inside center tube.

Maybe the wire backed element material was delivered in or cut to specific widths and your filter requires that size.

Have there been any cartridge style Ultras with the non-wire backed media? Can’t recall seeing any here.

Last XG9972 I bought still had the old red colored and wire backed media. Popular size for Toyotas, so doubtful that it was old stock.

Probably old stock. the new filters deliver on cost cutting so there's no reason for these to be made.

I just checked an XG16 I got yesterday, still wire backed, date code A21961
